Post Top Surgery Patient Aftercare Summary

Incisions:

Change the tapes every 2-3 days.

When it’s your day to change the tapes – remove the old tape prior to your shower to help keep clean.

Continue with this until 6 weeks post-op. If any irritation occurs, please check in with us for some advice

When it’s your day not to change the tapes , after showering use the cool setting of the hairdryer to dry off the tapes.

Nipple grafts:

Change the dressings daily.

Remove the dressings prior to showering to help keep the grafts clean.

After showering – allow your chest to have a good air dry for 30 mins before reapply the dressings and garment.

After 3 weeks – if the scabs are still present-and they are dark and dry – you can apply some E45 to them to help encourage them off.

Always check in with us for some advice if you are unsure.

Garment:

This is to be worn until your 6 week appointment, only to be removed for your daily shower.

The garment should feel nice and tight. We often double fold the garments at your appointment as this will help with swelling and build-up of fluid.
