Breast reduction cosmetic surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty is a surgical procedure, which involves removing fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breasts, which are reshaped while the nipples are repositioned. This form of breast surgery is designed to ease the pain and other associated medical problems which occur with large breasts.
Thousands of women suffer as a result of large breasts – from the physical discomfort of the excess weight to the emotional distress it often incurs. While some women have breasts which are naturally too large for their bodies, others find their breasts grow after the menopause or as a result of HRT. We are here to help as a leading breast reduction cosmetic surgery clinic at Cosmetic Surgery Partners.
Large breasts can result in back pain, poor posture and skin problems which makes breast reduction surgery one of the most popular in the UK. At Cosmetic Surgery Partners, our dedicated specialist breast reduction surgeon, Miles Berry is an expert in both breast reduction and breast augmentation surgery. He offers breast reduction cosmetic surgery for women and also for men who suffer from breast enlargement known as gynaecomastia (or commonly referred to as moob reduction surgery).
As part of the Cosmetic Surgery Partners patient journey, we provide a psychological assessment before surgery, from our state-of-the-art breast reduction clinic in London. This step is to prepare the patient, enhance their breast reduction cosmetic surgery journey and support them psychologically if there are any mental health concerns.
If you would like to discuss having breast reduction surgery, or want to book a consultation, then please get in touch with our award-winning team on 020 7486 6778. We also recommend downloading our breast reduction brochure.
In many cases it is possible for our breast reduction surgeon to customise the surgery in order to leave all or some of the milk ducts intact which will allow the patient to continue breast feeding after a breast reduction.
Although some amount of scarring is inevitable, our surgeons are experts at performing breast reduction surgery in a way to produce results that are natural looking with minimal scarring.
We would advise patient to avoid any strenuous activities or intense exercising till 4-6 post surgery.
After six weeks, you should be fully recovered and once the swelling has receded, you’ll be able to see the final shape and size of your new breasts.
Just like any surgery there is some discomfort following your breast reduction procedure, but most patients find this is manageable with paracetemol when they return home. Our experienced team are here to fully monitor your post-operative recovery, and to check your scars are healing well.
After breast reduction surgery at Cosmetic Surgery Partners, we advise all patients to spend the night at the our London clinic. All patients have a private room where your assigned nurse will be able to tend to your every need.
We advise that patients should reach full maturity before having surgery. Our standard policy is to not operate on any patient who is under the age of 18. Conversely there is no real age limit for breast reduction surgery, so long as the patient is in good health.
Anyone who suffers from upper body pain as a result of large breasts, who has skin problems underneath their breasts, feel that their breasts are out of proportion to the rest of their body, find their physical activity is reduced because of the size of their breasts and are self-conscious about the size of their breasts could benefit from this breast surgery.
